The exterior has various layers of paint over its original apple green, it has some battle damage to the crown, a split in the crown around which much rust has formed. Standard twin button front, the one piece wool eagle over cockade insignia, Luftwaffe blue grey satin lining. Some light wear use to the forehead area, good shape, nap of cloth excellent overall. GERMAN WWII GROSS DEUTSCHLAND OFFICERS CUFF TITLE AND SHOULDER CIPHER.
Two items retrieved from a grave in Russia in 1992 being the remains of an officers Gross Deutschland cuff title, the title is still full length, virtually all of the bullion wire of the lettering of the title has corroded away but the outline is still visible. Accompanied by a partly oxidised ‘GD’ shoulder board cipher with only pin remaining. read more

Hundreds of these helmets were confiscated by the newly formed nation of Czechoslovakia at the end of WWI, refurbished with Czech liners and chin straps and then further confiscated by the Third Reich.
