A very nice service worn and extremely collectable GEW 98 bolt action rifle. The standard arm of the German soldier in WWI, marked to the receiver ‘Waffen Fabrik Mauser A-G Oberndorf’ dated ‘1916’. The wood haft has suffered from dampness but is firm and all in one piece, complete with its head which has slight corrosion has lost all of its paint finish. Individual belt clip. The head is rusted to the upper threaded cap, the lower cap all intact.  read more

A very nice example, some staining to the blade. The wood grip has five notches and eight stars engraved into the wood, the meaning of this is unknown to us. An all leather pickelhaube with excellent condition skull, crazed overall, the front and rear peaks securely attached to the main body. One kink and a minor repair to the front peak trim, which is unusually maker stamped.
