GERMAN WWI SOLDIERS BACK PACK/TORNISTER.

Mid war type in olive drab canvas and brown leather. Karlsruhe maker’s stamp on the top leather rear section and repeated on one shoulder strap, the opposite strap appears to be a replacement. Regimentally marked in red ‘J.R 88’ which is the 2nd Nassau Infantry Regiment No.88. Original soldier’s name ‘Deckelburg’ applied in backing on the reverse canvas. A good complete set of the 3rd pattern body armour, which has had restoration, there are certain areas of surface corrosion, all of the straps on the reverse side have been restored and riveted, the exterior has been repainted field grey green but still an excellent example and is priced according to the restoration.  read more

An extremely difficult helmet to find being a regimentally marked all leather pickelhaube from the Leib Grenadier Regiment No.100 of Saxony. A very large size all fibre helmet for an officer in Saxon Infantry Regiment 100, this is the only Saxon Regiment to have all silver fittings and its full title is the 1st Leib Grenadier Regiment. An excellent very long sword of the 1889 pattern. Extra detail to the 1889 pattern hilt, more than standard. Prussian eagle, stands of arms and flags to the upper cap area, also floriated to the inside of the bowl with the mirror image of the Prussian eagle on both sides of the bowl.
