A rare helmet being the NCO all leather picklehaube worn by a member of the 23rd or 24th Hessian Dragoon Regiment, both of those regiments had all white metal fittings . the leather skull good and strong, minor crazing overall with one small area of loss of the skin to the left hand side of the Hessian front plate as the helmet is viewed, one of the spike cross base white metal domes is missing...  read more

GERMAN WWI BATTLEFIELD PICK-UP UNTOUCHED SAXON ENLISTED RANKS PICKELHAUBE.

A super item, untouched since the end of WWI. All leather skull, rear peak slightly distorted but both peaks firmly attached with good strong stitching to the main body, we always mention this with pickelhaubes because the stitching does tend to rot over the intervening years. A very nice field grey feldmutze, stamped size ‘57’. No moth damage anywhere on the cap. Good nap to the cloth. Paint mainly missing from the national and Prussian cockades. GERMAN WWI SOLDIERS BACK PACK/TORNISTER.

Mid war type in olive drab canvas and brown leather. Karlsruhe maker’s stamp on the top leather rear section and repeated on one shoulder strap, the opposite strap appears to be a replacement. Regimentally marked in red ‘J.R 88’ which is the 2nd Nassau Infantry Regiment No.88. Original soldier’s name ‘Deckelburg’ applied in backing on the reverse canvas. An extremely difficult helmet to find being a regimentally marked all leather pickelhaube from the Leib Grenadier Regiment No.100 of Saxony.
