GERMAN PRE WWI 1847 PATTERN PRUSSIAN ENLISTED MANS BELT BUCKLE.

An extremely nice condition 1847 pattern belt buckle being the larger and squarer example than the later 1895. Nickel centre, brass base having the scroll ‘Gott Mitt Uns and unusually still with a small section of its original leather tab. The old collectors number still affixed to the rear of the buckle. These are difficult to obtain in this very good condition.  read more

The Hessian officers buckle in brass to fit to the parade belt is quite generally available, however the field grey all steel version is extremely rare especially to a State as small as Hesse. A standard all leather pickelhaube, possibly size 54 or 55 with a very good skull, some minor crazing. All of the chemically patinated field grey finish to the back strap, removable spike, spike base, front plate and strap fittings all present with some light fading. An example of the F.Koeller & Company bayonet fighting knife. All steel hilt with faint traces of its field grey green finish remaining. Corrosion to the inner side of the grip. The bayonet retaining lug present and working correctly. The blade is full length, toned overall. Fitted into its original scabbard with leather belt loop missing. Some corrosion to the lower part of the scabbard.
