Lovely quality deck jacket, double breasted, with all anchor celluloid buttons. No moth damage. Huge collar. Original label marked ‘size 40’ with a contract number marking ‘U.S.Naval Clothing Factory, Brooklyn New York’ with original owner’s name hand applied to the label. An interesting and large Polish banner measuring 95cm square, which includes its gold fringe, beautifully embroidered on both sides. An early large format photograph of a tank regiment soldier measuring 23cm x 30cm laid onto hard card, the soldier is wearing the very large black beret, 37 pattern battledress. BRITISH WWII HAMPSIRE REGIMENT SHOULDER TITLE.

A scarce title as worn by the Hampshire Regiment on D-Day, they were one of the first units ashore and they wore a title, which was produced to the regiment at the regiments own costs, which reads THE HAMPSHIRE REGIMENT. Yellow embroidery on black wool backing. Stitches remain where removed from a battledress.  read more
