GERMAN WWI BAVARIAN TIN PICKELHAUBE.

A large size, possibly 56, all tin pickelhaube for a Bavarian soldier. The skull has taken some indentations and there are areas of rust bleed through the paintwork. One rivet missing on the reverse side of the circular spike base, which is in brass but has subdued, which matches the subdued brass Bavarian front plate. A knife much seen in photographs being worn by German troops in the trenches being the deer’s foot knife. Excellent blade with unusual double headed eagle trademark, S shaped steel cross guard, original leather washer complete, in its steel military style scabbard and belt loop. Hilt retaining strap does not appear ever to have been fitted. The steel scabbard having some paint loss.
