GERMAN WWI SAXON ENLISTED MANS PICKELHAUBE.

A very clean condition Saxon pickelhaube with early brass fittings. Both national and State cockades are untouched, both are of the serrated style. The brown leather chinstrap is good and supple. The rear peak stitches are slightly loose to one side and the brass spine along with the spike base has some slight knocks. The leather skull is solid with very little cracking or wear to the finish. A hugely impressive oil painting of a submarine Knights Cross Winner Heinz Krey. Heinz Krey was born in Wiesbaden in December 1921 and was killed on the 23rd May 1943 in the middle of the North Atlantic. He was posthumously awarded the Knights Cross on the 4th September 1943.
