GERMAN WWII GROUND DUG PARATROOPER HELMET SHELL AND PARTIAL LINER.
It would be fascinating to know where this paratrooper helmet shell was recovered from, unfortunately we do not know this. The shell is a large size, it has various round and shrapnel holes, mainly on the right side of the helmet. The original three hole spanner bolt screws are intact and the lower part of the swastika is still visible from the decal and the tip of the right hand wing. To the interior the rubber cushion is virtually all intact and parts of the chinstraps. The leather has virtually disappeared apart from the lower half. It would appear that these straps have been cut and not rotted away indicating that this was removed from a casualty and just left in the field. A very atmospheric helmet and a good example to obtain a reasonably priced paratrooper helmet of WWII.
