BRITISH WWII RAF FLYING HELMET, GOGGLES AND MASK IDENTIFIED.

A complete head set mounted on a display board of a WWII RAF flying helmet C type, worn operationally by Warrant Officer Sid Cannon Air Gunner with No. 460 Squadron. C type helmet G type mask, mark 4B goggles. This is the first C type flying helmet with external wiring loom, the early Bennetts buckle and strap with all four of the goggle straps still in place. The leather is quite worn due to heavy use with some of the outer leather skin being soft and slightly weak. Despite its outer condition, the helmet itself is quite a strong example. The Air Ministry label remains to the inside of the crown stating it to be a size 4, this was the largest in which these helmets were made. One of the outer ear caps that houses the receiver has become brittle and has cracked. The Mark 4 goggles are complete with strap of which it has been cut down, probably by the original owner. The lenses have become clouded. The straps are in worn condition with the spring sections of the loop showing through the outer cloth. The G type mask is somewhat worn with the rubber components having perished, particularly to the nose section. Complete with a type 48 microphone, webbing harness and the hose with the clip, of which stands in good condition. All displayed on a head mounted on a board with an original Sidcot collar around the neck. Named to ‘W.O.Sid Cannon 45 operations’.
