AUSTRIAN WWI 1905 PATTERN DRAGOON HELMET FOR OFFICERS IN PIKE GREY FOR FIELD SERVICE.

The 1905 pattern Dragoon officers helmet was an extremely elaborate and bright helmet, when war was looming it was realised that these could not be worn in action as they could easily be identified, many of the helmets were over-painted as can be seen by our accompanying photographs, there were also some helmets that were particularly produced and without ornaments and in pike grey, this is an extremely fine example. Lightweight construction, plain skull and comb but with the officers chin scales dulled for field service. Complete with its officers interior leather and silk liner. Minor distortion to the white metal trim on the rear tail and to the left hand front side of the peak, otherwise overall good condition. A rare helmet in the series of Austrian Dragoon helmets.
