JAPANESE WWII TYPE 3 RJT OFFICERS KATANA.

A superb Type 3 RJT Officers sword. A Gendaito Shin-Gunto 1944 model katana blade 67.7cm long and beautiful condition. Signed Noshu Ju KaneToshi with star stamp, dated 1943. Stunning hamon, Interestingly, on close inspection, the whole sword (scabbard & hilt) have at one time been painted completely black, This is a sign that the sword has been used for night raids. Original knot in place which also shows signs of black paint staining. As well known, these heavier format swords were not ceremonial and were designed for battle use.
