Any of the Luftwaffe services other than the normal flight, flak, and signals caps are considered rare. This is a very fine example of a private purchase cloth construction, non-size stamped but estimated at 57 or 58, standard Luftwaffe blue grey ribbed cloth, black piping to the crown and the upper and lower sections of the mohair centre band, no moth damage in any part of the cap, fitted with a matched set of Luftwaffe Eagle and cockade, standard double buckle strap, double ribbed peak which are commonly encountered on Luftwaffe officers and man’s caps, to the interior the light tan sweatband is of the ersatz variety, the upper inner crown and side lining in a very light green satin, with a complete centre celluloid lozenge, gold blocked to the centre, Deutsche Wertarbeit.
