JAPANESE WWII OFFICERS KATANA, HAND MADE AND DATED.

A very fine condition army officers katana from WWII, the blade measuring 71cm, mint bright with very fine wavy hamon, no flaws, chips, staining of any sort. The tang is hand signed ‘KOJIMA KATSUMASA’ dated ‘October 1942’, 9 characters to the signature on the tang. This beautiful blade all fitted into its standard army mounts, the gilding to the tsuba (cross guard) is excellent. All the spacers and washers are intact. The ray skin hilt, which is beautifully wrapped fits tightly to the tang. The securing tab in leather is broken. The ray skin below the wrap is completely undamaged. Fitted with its portapee carrying ring and its brown and blue dress portapee knot. All fitted into its wood scabbard, which has its leather combat cover, the leather is good to the combat cover, it does appear to have some leather treatment. The twine that holds the upper part of the canvas cover tight is missing, however the canvas cover itself is very tight to the wood below.
