GERMAN WWI BADEN REGIMENT 109 RESERVE OFFICERS PICKELHAUBE.

A well service used and stored all leather pickelhaube, approximately size 56 or 57 for the rare Regiment of the 109th Regiment of Baden. These helmets are highly desirable and when in excellent condition can fetch as much as £4,500 to £5,500. This helmet does have some issues, the crown of the helmet has sunk slightly, there is some congealing on both sides of the skull, it has good shape and form, the rear peak is firmly attached to the main body, front peak excellent with its undamaged peak trim. Untouched original flat chin scales, which have lost their gilt. Complete with its national and Baden officers cockades. The large Baden griffin front plate is undamaged, apart from the enamel to the cross, with its reserve officers cross below with the correct lettering. The white metal finish to the removable spike and circular spike base is good with one star missing. The back strap of the helmet appears to have lost all of its white metal finish and is slightly distorted. To the interior the tan leather sweatband has evidence of heavy wear use, the internal silk liner is present but shredded, the interior skull still has good colour. All of the washers are present to the spike base nuts, the washers are present that hold the side cappings and chin scales to the helmet. There are no washers behind the two threaded studs for the helmet plate itself.
