BRITISH WWI ROYAL WELSH FUSILIERS GOR BLIMEY CAP.
The rarest of all the British soft headdress of WWI is the highly unusual cap known as the Gor Blimey cap, officially known as the Winter Service dress cap. The British Army needed to design a cap that was suitable for winter climates and this led to the rapid design and introduction of the ‘CAP, WINTER, SERVICE DRESS’ To the troops in the trenches it became universally known as the Gor Blimey, ( Gor Blimey was a London based language phrase used to show shock at someone or something ) . The light grey multi stitched circular lining is all intact, various moth damage repairs, Very faint traces of the original WD stampings to the upper inner lining.
