GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE GROUND TROOPS SMOCK IN RARE CAMOUFLAGE.
As collectors of Luftwaffe ground troops smocks will be aware there are many variations on camouflage patterns, the construction of the ground troop smocks are all identical being five button front, two press stud fixtures to each sleeve, two lower pockets with buttons, standard collar, loops for shoulder boards, this is the basic construction of any Luftwaffe ground troop smocks. The most encountered example is in the splinter pattern herringbone twill material non reversible, we have also had, until recently, a very heavyweight duck material example. This particular piece is in the tan and water pattern having the Luftwaffe grey embroidered eagle with green herringbone backing machine stitched in the original cross hatched fashion to the upper left hand breast, the material is a smooth cut of canvas duck, non reversible. A full compliment of size markings and RB numbers ink stamped to the upper inner pocket bag. We have listed on our web site at this present time recently acquired armed forces winter pattern anorak non reversible, in a tan and water pattern, virtually identical to the pattern on this smock, the anorak has Luftwaffe LBA acceptance markings to the interior. There is no damage anywhere on this garment, probably only lightly used. No moth damage. No repairs. All of the buttons are of the Luftwaffe blue grey pattern. A fine addition to any Luftwaffe group troops division collection.
