BRITISH WWII PARATROOPER HELMET.

A scarce British paratrooper helmet of WWII and from one year only. This is the helmet made by the Company G & S, which is Gimson & Slater. The internal lining is dated ‘1943’ size 6¾. The 1st British paratrooper helmets had the 1 inch fibre rim with leather straps and are all dated 42, most 43 dated helmets are without the fibre rim and still have leather straps, then the 44 dated helmets again without fibre rim but with canvas straps, this is one of the scarce 43 dated helmets. Lovely condition overall, all its original paint finish remaining, leather straps superb, the canvas cradle to the interior still in brilliant white, the inner crown crash pad present, the colour of the lining with much original light tan colour with some wear around the edges where it has been lightly used. The felt padding, which has a black Bitumen like covering is generally all place, parts of the black matt Bitumen covering is slightly flaky at the front of the helmet. To one of the white canvas cradles the museum numbers of ‘5914’ have been added, this was for many years in a museum in Derbyshire.
