GERMAN WWII SS OFFICERS SWORD.

A very fine example of an SS officers sword, one of the best we have had in many years. 91cm in overall length, the blade is in excellent condition, evidence of slight cleaning, this example is without a maker to the blade indicating that this is an early heavy nickel production. At the join between the blade and the D guard hilt is a standard white leather thick washer, underneath the washer is the standard SS marking, which matches exactly the SS marking on the throat of the upper scabbard mount. The blade has a good tight fit to the scabbard when returning the sword from being drawn. All of the nickel plating to the hilt, top cap and fittings are in very nice bright condition, the ebony wood grip is completely undamaged with all its wire wrap intact. The central runic circlet is complete with slight thinness of the black finish between the two runic symbols. The bottom chape to the sword is also very nicely nickel plated with some thinness to the plating. All the finish to the scabbard is original to the sword, there are no indentations and the sword is finished off with its excellent condition silver portapee knot without any oxidisation. On unscewing the top cap of the hilt reveals a covered cap below, this is an important feature of the early nickel swords, when these swords were presented they were always accompanied by a signed presentation document from Heinrich Himmler. This sword would be an ideal accompaniment for a collector who possibly has the matching early nickel plated SS officers dagger,
this is a item on consignment to us, the consignor has asked us to reduce the price, it should be remembered that their are always SS Officers Swords available on the collectors market , but not not in this condition.
