GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN 14TH UHLAN EM OR NCO HELMET.

A highly interesting Uhlan helmet being an all leather helmet in large size for an enlisted man in the 14th Prussian Uhlan Regiment, complete with its original cover. Although the helmet itself is not size stamped the cover is size stamped ?60?. The front Prussian plate is in white metal although subdued to a very dark colour with matching white front peak trim, which is absolutely correct for 14th Uhlans. A set of brass domed chin scales with white metal end caps. To the crown has been fitted a blackened field grey attachment for what appears to be for a spike or a mortarboard top, the size of the attachment piece is larger than a standard removable spike and smaller than the looped bayonet style fitting of a mortarboard top. The cover fits completely around this attachment piece snugly. The cover is of the M.15 style, which allows the chin scales to pass through the helmet cover. The 12 tounged inner liner is all complete ,This helmet is from the ex Michael Baldwin collection.
